Hilde Is Growing Up

Well Miss Hildegard is now a year and half. She is quickly losing her puppy ways. I will miss them on one hand, and on the other it will be nice to have a calmer dog. She still likes to play, but not as much as she used to.

One good thing is she likes to just lay on the couch and cuddle now. Used to be play, play, play, snooze, go out, eat, poop, play, play, play, and repeat. I can tell she isn't as frisky as she was, but just a loveable. She isn't as destructive either, which means I can leave things out that I couldn't before. Unless, of course, it's my friends dvd of Avatar. A friend from work let me borrow her copy. When I got home I put it on the coffee table on top of a pile of others. When I left the room, she promply got that copy and started to chew it up. Luckly for me she just chewed on the cover. She didn't get to the dvd. I told my friend that I will replace it glady, but she said no. They don't keep the covers. They keep their dvd's in an album like book. Thanks friend.

Well, that's all for this edition. Unitl next time whenever that may be. Goodbye for now.

Feeling Sad

I'm feeling sad since I lost a close friend last Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, to a stroke. I feel sad since I didn't even know he was in the hospital. The last time we spoke was on his birthday on September 30, 2009.

My friend was Charles Humpston. He was a former choir director at the church I attend and from there we became close friends. He was a very musically talented person who loved his two dogs, opera, and his family. His dogs, Rocco and Jimmy, were his close companions. When he talked about them, he called them his friends.

I shall miss Charles very much. I know he is in a better place, but still I am feeling sad.

Here It Is

Well here it is. My first official blog. I'm here to post life as I live it being mom to a little red dachshund named Hildegard, Hilde for short. As you can seen the dog in my picture is not a red dachshund. He is one that I lost this past January. His name was Solomon. He was only 11 years old when he left which was far to soon for me. After about a week of being alone, and missing my sweet boy, I found about a puppy from a friend's sister's next door neighbor whose male had "slipped" the gate and thus she had 4 puppies. 3 males and one female. Since I just had a black and tan male, I went with the red female and named her Hildegard as mentioned earlier. This was in late January when she came to live with me for a bargin price. Since then life has been full of her playing, going to puppy class, and trying to housebreak her.

She is now 10 months old and the love of my life. She hasn't fully gotten the housebreaking concept, but is getting it. Seems she goes through spells where she does great, and then she seems to backslide. But all in all she is a sweetie pie and most surely a keeper.
